Dieter Ulrich was born in Ludwigshafen, Germany, in 1949. He studied Fine Arts at the Erziehungswissenschaftliche Hochschule Landau from 1971 to 1974 and worked as an art teacher until his retirement in 2009. Since then, he has focused actively on painting and printmaking. His work is distinguished by precise technique, a refined understanding of pigments, and a careful selection of materials and surfaces. He divides his time between Speyer, Germany, and Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
