Dieter Ulrich


Dieter Ulrich was born in Ludwigshafen, Germany, in 1949. After completing his Abitur in 1969, he studied at the Erziehungswissenschaftliche Hochschule Landau from 1971 to 1974, with Fine Arts as his primary field of study.
From 1975 to 2009, Ulrich worked primarily as a Fine Arts teacher at two Hauptschulen in Germany. For many years, he also served as head of the Fine Arts department. Following his retirement in 2009, he became increasingly active in his own artistic practice, dedicating himself particularly to painting and printmaking.

Ulrich's work is distinguished by a refined and precise technique. His compositions demonstrate a deep understanding of the relationships between pigments, as well as careful consideration in the selection of appropriate materials and surfaces. His work in printmaking has also earned him recognition in competitions, including distinctions in the Hahnemühle annual competition.
Ulrich divides his residence between Speyer, Germany, and Arecibo, Puerto Rico.

Dieter Ulrich nació en Ludwigshafen, Alemania, en 1949. Tras completar su Abitur en 1969, cursó estudios en la Erziehungswissenschaftliche Hochschule Landau entre 1971 y 1974, teniendo Bellas Artes como su principal área de formación.
Entre 1975 y 2009 trabajó principalmente como profesor de Bellas Artes en dos escuelas Hauptschule de Alemania. Durante muchos años también se desempeñó como responsable del área de Bellas Artes. Tras su retiro en 2009, intensificó su actividad artística, dedicándose especialmente a la pintura y al grabado.

La obra de Ulrich se distingue por una técnica depurada y precisa. Sus composiciones reflejan un profundo conocimiento de las relaciones entre los pigmentos, acompañado de una cuidadosa selección de materiales y soportes. Su trabajo en el grabado también le ha valido reconocimientos en diferentes competencias, entre ellos distinciones en el concurso anual de Hahnemühle.
Ulrich comparte su residencia entre Speyer, Alemania, y Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
